The list is as follows:

  • Break Your Limits 2 – Team Alistair – Gun swimmer and ready for a quick run!

The newly appointed Social Secretary of Break Your Limits – Trudy Haddleton has decided that breakfast after the event will be taking place at the Haddleton’s household (thanks once again to these guys) and yes, they do have coffee and yes, they do have Cimbalino beans.

Bacon / Eggs / Toast will be on the menu so if you wish to come, please do and talk of your event experience!

Address is 12 Willowbank Entrance, GWELUP.

For those wanting to come and watch, the event starts at 8.00am with various waves every 3 minutes. Check out the Trievents website for further information.

The Break Your Limits support crew which is growing will be around in the black shirts… I will even bring some down with me this time, so don’t miss out!

Team lists have been finalised for the Hillarys triathlon, a couple of changes but this will keep the handicaps honest.

Break Your Limits Team 1

  • Joe Cleasby – Ironman extraordinaire – expect a fair swim (11mins)
  • Stacey Barnes – Partime Athlete & Social Butterfly – (45mins)
  • Rebecca Smith – Sister of BYL Owner, wife of new shaved Triathlete – (25mins)

TOTAL TIME – 1 hour 21 mins

Break Your Limits Team 2

  • Lauren Winter – Mystery swimmer from the ‘Wu’ stable – Apparently a good swimmer? (9mins)
  • Alistair Press – in cycling form, 40+ km/h average (30mins)
  • Craig Jennings – 29 year old short-middle distance runner (18mins)

TOTAL TIME – 57mins

I am thinking a 25 minute handicap.

Any thoughts?

Next stop New Plymouth

1 week ago I was sitting in my gym, petrified at the oncoming prospect of the Perth Criterium Series and the fact I was going to be way out of my league. Well, I was right. The event lived up to expectations and it certainly scared me to wits end, even to the point of considering after day 2, was it really worth it. I joked around with the guys that it was the quickest way to enter depression… Enter 4 races over 4 days, get dropped every day and the magical letters DNF next to your name and this is a sure fire way of sorting out any hidden mental issues.

I’m glad to say I went the distance and the last race even included a stint on the front end, much to the delight of my fellow teammates. Let’s not get carried away, I think it was a mass total of 10mins but I did love every minute of it. That was the plan, to go out all guns blazing and I definitely achieved the blazing part!

Post race celebrations were held at Fibber McGees and a well earned drink indeed. Thanks once again to all those who supported and helped out through the events, wouldn’t have been the same without you.

For all those on programs, watch out as I have a few new ideas to help improve your overall race speed!

Much to my joy, the focus now shifts to running, at least that’s what I thought before running today. It would seem all my weight has shifted to my quads and I’m running like the Incredible Hulk. Hopefully this will move sooner rather than later!

A few races to attend before I leave though, not mine but the members of the BYL crew. This weekend is the race 3 of the Triathlon Series and as such the crew attending, more details to follow!

An inside word though, two (2) Break Your Limits Teams will toe the start line, one mixed crew – Joe, Stacey & Trudy and a male crew – Mystery swimmer, Alistair, Mystery Runner…

In the true spirit of competition I believe a bottle of Henschke Keyneton Estate (rrp $50) should be offered to the winning team. Over the next few days calculators will be out to organise a handicap and as such may the best man / woman / team win.

I’m open to all handicap times!

Aero all the way

As you would have read on this blog, some of the Break Your Limits crew have an infatuation (namely Alistair, Tom, Claudia and Arron) with the Aero helmet. This will be Michael’s weapon of choice come Sunday racing at the Hillarys Sprint event.

Will this be the deciding factor?

Go Taylor!

What do Billy Ray Cyrus and Tom Kroyer have in common…

Well one is a one hit wonder who had a great success with his breakthrough chart topper then hit bouts of depression as his next efforts failed, he also had a much more successful child prodigy whilst the other is a American country music singer.

I have had lots of positive comments from my last blog, many said it was well written, funny & interesting, Michael said it excited him too (???) however I must confess I am a sham because neither of those comments really describe me. Tom “funny, interesting & exciting… hmmm No”.

Hence I have nightmares writing the follow-up…. will it be like WEEKEND AT BERNIE’S II where people left shaking their heads and muttering “they should have left it when they loaded Bernie in the Ambulance” … will it be like Emilio Estevez, never quite as successful as his brother Charlie… and what was he thinking marrying Paula Abdul.

Will Raymond revoke my right to Blog…

So thus I was forced to turn to my daughter Taylor for inspiration. I asked her, “Taylor how can Daddy be funny and exciting?”… Taylor who is much smarter than her father, suggested that I observe her current favourite Zac Efron of High School Musical fame. So after watching High School Musical and its various sequels with Taylor, I too llike Zac Efron. His toe tapping rhythm and sultry tones made me wish I could dance chorographed moves and hitting the high C whilst winning the high school basketball championship with perfect hair and no sweat patches.

Compare this to Triathlon, where is the pain, where is the suffering, where is the skanky river water, where is the chaffing, where are the chearleaders, where is the Breakyourlimits tshirts?…

However there is one thing they do have in common, the basketball coach, Freo Dockers and Raymond both have the same punch line “just go out there and have fun”

Buoyed but this success Taylor suggested we move on to her other favourite Hannah Montana… the first person/actor I see is Billy Ray Cyrus, father and co actor of his much more successful daughter Miley Ray Cyrus aka Hannah Montana.. It occurs to me that Billy, a one hit wonder has found a new way to reinvent himself, vicariously through his daughter…. Gold!!!!!

So as Taylor undertook her first Triathlon the weekend just gone, there was Ray running beside Taylor yelling encouragement and there was not a prouder and more excited parents than Mara & I, except maybe for Paul & Trudy.

Go Taylor!
