Joseph Cleasby… You are an Ironman.
Feb 28th
Joe Cleasby has crossed the line in Malaysia 2010 with a time of 10.18.58. In conditions of 32C with humidity soaring above 70% and an ambient temperature of 40C he has earned his place at the Hawaii Ironman. Joe finished first in his age group which will guarantee his selection for the big island.
Joe now becomes the third BYL member to race on the Big Island.
From all of us back in Australia, well done on such a great race and congratulations on your massive achievement today!

A big weekend…
Feb 26th
The term ‘it’s all happening’ has well and truly hit the Break Your Limits headquarters.
This weekend sees the Break Your Limits team spread far and wide. From the ocean in Langkawi to the depths of WA’s southwest, to Hillarys at the north of Perth and then to cap it off ‘Le Bill’ in France, Break Your Limits has definitely turned global.
Joe Cleasby has arrived in Malaysia and it is hot. Looking at the temperature forecast for tomorrow, and expected top of 34C with a relative humidity of 80% and an ambient temperature of 43C (yes I do love my weather stats) he will definitely earn this Ironman towel! Once again we wish him all the best for this epic journey and we are all cheering you on from Perth mate!
To the guys heading down south, Arron Robertson and Nathalie Bond, competing in the Albany Olympic Triathlon, all the best. Arron is now leading the 40-44 age group for the TWA awards and is getting stronger. Nat, is no slouch either, a recent 3rd placing at the Hillarys Tri two weekends ago, she is flying.
The Hillarys Triathlon is the annual 2XU Womens Triathlon kindly supported by our good friends at 2XU. A few girls are in attendance, Claudia Dohr, Mara Kroyer, Natalie Grundy and Leila Norris. The Break Your Limits camera crew have obviously decided this is the closest race to photograph and will happily be snapping away.
And of course ‘Le Bill’ competing in a Duathlon in France. Nothing more needs to be said of this because it will take me longer to type about it, than what he will take to race it. Good luck mate and hope all goes to plan! (Your new racesuit will arrive shortly!)
For now, it’s over and out and I will post tomorrow of happenings surrounding the BYL team!
Remember, whatever your pursuit, FASTER – HIGHER – STRONGER!
It must be time for a blog!

Last time I wrote we were about to hit the high mountain ski slopes and I was fearful of broken limbs and a stint in an alpine hospital. But I need not have feared for Team BYL france is still functioning with all facilities in place and in working order. The skiiing was fun, well that is what Claire tells me. I would not know as I spent most of the day with my face planted in the snow beneath a tangled mess of legs, arms and skis. After a few failed attempts, I called it a day and headed for the pub meanwhile Claire sharpened her skills in preparation for her debut at the Vancouver Games. In other news, the Team recently celebrated its two year ‘wedding birthday’ (as is said in franglais) and so the decision was made to spend a few days in the south coast town of Menton, just on the edge of the French / Italian border. We chose Menton as not only is it a beautiful town but also it is renowned for its sublimely warm, sunny and rainfree climate. Well, in true Team BYL fashion, we arrived in Menton amidst a downpour of rain that lasted for almost the whole time we were there. Nonetheless, we were assured that there would not be a dull moment as Menton is home to the annual Fete du Citron, yes that is right, a giant party celebrating the humble lemon. The town of Menton is fiercely proud of its lemon heritage – once the largest exporter of lemons in europe. To celebrate such a feat, the town puts on a spectacle involving the construction of gigantic objects out of lemons. If you wanted proof that the french are crazy then look no further. Claire and I were treated to giant dinosaurs made from lemons, lemon UFO’s, a haunted house made from lemons, and even a stunning version of the roman colesium made entirely out of lemons. What better way to pay tribute to one of history’s greatest works of roman engineering? Why yes, I can hear the Menton townfolk say, ‘let’s build it with lemons!’ Mom! Pop! Them aliens are here!! And theys taken our cow!! In between all this touristic dilly dallying, I have been busy training as planned. The first six week block of training is pretty much done now and all has gone very well. I have had days where I have felt invincible and days where the mere sight of my bike has struck fear into my heart but as many of you know such highs and lows are all part of the ride. Right now, I have two days of r&r ahead of me and then on Sunday I will line up for my first ever french multisport event – the Duathlon de Salon. The 5k run, 20k bike and 2.5k run should see my heart rate soar to levels rarely experienced by the slow moving ironman athlete and no doubt come Sunday morning my back teeth will be floating in lactic acid. Nice! After 6 weeks of training, eating and willing my body to burn fat for fuel, Sunday’s slap and dash session will be a high octane glycogen fuelled affair. Yes, a nice bit of fun with the boys to round out the the first block of training. I am looking forward to donning the BYL kit once more and will let you know how it goes…
A jubilant Claire jests about her ski supremacy

Feb 17th
Well, the Olympics are on and there is a genuine excitement around the Break Your Limits headquarters. I was asked the other day which sport I like the most at the Winter Olympics and I would have to say the first thing that came to mind was the figure skating. No, I’m not trying to get in touch with my emotions but I do believe they are amongst the fittest people in the world and they do it all on a blade, about the size of a ruler.
My excitement nearly got the better of me the other day whilst running on the treadmill. Whilst watching Vancouver Gold the figure skating appeared and much to my delight I saw a few routines. Caught up in the moment as one of the skaters were flung into the air, I too jumped (unknowingly) and nearly took a spill off the back of the treadmill. Scared the heart a little but was happy nonetheless I stayed upright.
You would have read in earlier posts they was a slight mishap from the weekends racing. No, no one was injured but one the of the Break Your Limits teams entered transition earlier thanks to a miscount of laps or was it just a case of not going to the race briefing? You see, I am not allowed to comment about the incident as I have given my word but the song by Meatloaf, ‘Two out of three ain’t bad’ does spring to mind.
Team ‘Alistair’ won the Teams division for the race but unfortuantely the bottle of ‘red’ will have to keep for another race as not all teams crossed the line legitimately.
I’m glad to report the running legs are coming back and with just two weeks to go I am very thankful!
Til next time, Happy Counting and it’s off to practice some more of my moves.

Long time support of the Break Your Limits Quest for Global Domination, Rick Allen of 2XU has opened his stunning new 2XU Performance Centre in Subiaco.

2XU is well renown for making good gear, or Raymond would not have you wear it.
